This year, two of Summerland’s students will be summersaulting into Melbourne to compete in the 2017 Australian Gymnastics Championships.

Caine Franks (Year 8) and Jafari Kennedy (Year 5) who are actually cousins have both qualified to represent NSW at this years games.

Caine and Jafari both recently competed at the NSW State Gymnastics Championships of which, Jafari competing in the under 13’s, qualified for the double mini and tumble. He will compete in these two apparatus at Nationals. Caine will compete in the tumble only of which he came 1st in NSW!.

“Caine was the only under 15’s male in the whole of NSW to qualify for Tumble at Nationals” says Cody. “Both these boys have serious talent”.

“It isn’t easy to get as far as these two have, for example Caine practices for at least 26 hours every week” said Cody Creighton, Head Coach at North Coast Gymnastics.

If you’re like me and have no idea what tumble, and double mini tramp means, please check out the Australian Gymnastics web site:

Congratulations to both boys. Our prayers and best wishes are with you.
