Congratulations to Hayley Oakes of Year 8 who recently represented Summerland in the inaugural 2017 Schools National Championships presented by Bond University.

Hayley is an extremely skilled Mountain biker and competed in the 3 day event on the Gold Coast in the Under 15 Women's Category (she's not even 14 years old yet!).

Hayley finished in first place, securing her first Schools National Championship in both the Cross Country Eliminator (XCE) and the Cross Country Olympic (XCO) events.

On Day 3, Hayley raced in the Cross Country Relay (XCR) in a mixed schools team of 3 along with riders from 2 different schools whom she'd never met before (1 from the Gold Coast and 1 from Tasmania). There were teams entered from across Australia, and Hayley and her team brought it home strong for a 2nd Place in the XCR event.

We look forward to Hayley representing the College at this event again next year. Well done Hayley, we're so proud of you!

Thank you also, to the Oakes family who not only attended this event but volunteered and acted as Team Managers for SCC.
