Over the holidays Hayley Oakes (Year 7) raced in the QLD State Mountainbiking Championships held in Mackay.

A number of weeks ago Ella Oakes (Year 8) came 2nd in the under 16 year olds girls Byron to Bruns Beach Fun Run.

Kyah Oosterbeek (Year 11) and Zanthie Bailey (Year 8) were both awarded $250 scholarships in the Airforce Cadets for further development.

Back in March this year I met a beautiful lady called Carolyn. Like me, her son was in Trindy, the same days as my son but we had actually never really stopped to have a conversation. I knew her to smile at, say “Hello” and “See ya” but that was about it.

Summerland Christian College celebrated excellence recently when quite a number of our Year 3 and Year 5 students were presented with special NAPLAN Academic Achievement and Improvement Awards.

“Creativity takes courage!” claimed Henri Matisse. If we believe this to be true, then our Summerland’s Visual Art students are brave indeed! Nearing the finish line of their creative journey, each student has recently completed their major works or ‘Body of Work’ after countless hours of painstaking process.

Earlier this term Summerland devoted a whole day to focus upon the amazing Indigenous history we have in our country, local area and school with a Trindy to Year 12 NAIDOC DAY celebration.

Charlie is our second student in the last two years to top her class in a first year university unit in the SCU Head-Start program. We are so proud of her hard work and success and wish her all the best as she sits her HSC trials.

At the beginning of Term 3 Trindy enjoyed a week of celebrating the letter 'P' by coming along to school dressed as either pirates or princesses.
